Biographies...
In the early years of our country's history,
those who sought a home here lived an adventurous life. We rank among the
older communities of this country. Here are biographies and histories
related to the early inhabitants of then Brookfield, now West Brookfield.
We have also included the biographies of some of our Civil War soldiers.
West Brookfield is part of the Quaboag Plantation which will celebrate its
350th birthday in 2010. Scroll down and meet one of the "Original
Planters". September of 1829 - Josiah Henshaw, one of our Minutemen, died in West Brookfield and is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery. Josiah’s name was on the roll of minutemen that marched from Brookfield on April 19, 1775 to Lexington. Biography of Josiah Henshaw
As we prepare for the 350th Anniversary of Quaboag Plantation, we are gathering information on the original Planters for our website. Our new section will be called "Quaboag Plantation" and will introduce you to the original Planters. We call on William Prichard to continue our story, descendant of a noble Welch family, father of eight children, substantial land owner, and part of the original group to arrive at Quaboag, Meet William Prichard
